For details regarding A Celebration of Life for Alison
ELLENBURG CENTER – Alison Jane Dupuis, 67, of Ellenburg Center, died July 10, 2025 at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital with her family by her side. Born in Malone on November 15, 1957, she was the daughter of Stanley and Iris (Smith) Barcomb. They predeceased her.
Alison attended Ellenburg Central School and then Northern Adirondack Central School, graduating in 1975. The summer of graduation she enjoyed a trip to Europe for several weeks. She then came home to attend Plattsburg State University from 1975 until 1978, leaving college to be married to Herman J. Dupuis. After her marriage, she was dedicated to raising her three children and providing them with a home within spitting distance of her childhood home which had many memories that were special to her. Alison and Herman were divorced in 1992.
Alison worked for the Clinton County Board of Elections for many years as a poll inspector, worked several years on the family farm, the Clinton County Nursing Home, the local General Store Dupuis' Groceries, and Delagar/Belcam in Rouses Point. She ended her work years at Wyeth/Pfizer in Rouses Point retiring from there in 2018. In her younger years, she was a member of the Chateauguay bowling league, enjoying the time spent with her team members, her mother Iris, and good friends Pauline Cashman and Esther LaBombard. She loved going to bingo and enjoyed reading romance novels. She especially loved a good game of Pinochle, Cribbage or Pitch with her family and always played for the win. In her later years she found great joy in restoring old family furniture and attended auctions where she would find great buys and bring them back to life. After retirement she discovered a true passion for quilting and loved putting together quilt tops but many times procrastinated in finishing the quilts. Alison's greatest wish was to be beloved and cherished by her grandchildren. She loved going to watch her grandchildren's' sporting events and concerts at school. Alison hosted many family reunions at her home and approached them with her ever favorite spreadsheets. Organization is the key to everything she would often say!
What Alison considered as one of her most challenging achievements was completing her college degree in 2009. Her second challenge was navigating the interstate to travel to New Jersey to visit her Sarah and Karissa. After the invention of Google Maps it sure became easier and gave her more peace of mind.
Alison is survived by two sons, Jared (Jenna) Dupuis of Port Kent, Matthew (Danielle) Dupuis of Saranac, a daughter Sarah Dupuis of Hackettstown, New Jersey, grandchildren Celton and Quinlan Dupuis of Port Kent; Claire, Chloe, Cailey and Cora Dupuis of Saranac; and Karissa Williams of Hackettstown New Jersey; a sister Ardyce (Cy) Bresett of Granville NY; brothers Daniel (Doreen) and Laurence of Ellenburg Center; her beloved niece Betsy Keiser and nephews Scott, Chris and Joe Barcomb and Neil and Josh Bresett; her good friends Ellen Murphy, Nancy Cook, and Marion (Steve) Matthews.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a grandson, Cian Adam Dupuis in 2006; a sister Rosalind Barcomb and brother Kurt Barcomb.
There will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Alison's life will be held at a later date.
A graveside service will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center on Wednesday, July 16th at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Alison's memory may be made to the Ellenburg Center Fire Department.
