ELLENBURG – Bruce Nichols, 74, of Bombard Road, passed away, March 16, 2020.
He was born on March 29, 1945 son of Joseph and Rhoda (Charette) Nichols.
Bruce married Frances Rock on July 6, 1968 at St. Edmund's Church. Frances predeceased him on May 27 , 2006.
He worked as a paper machine operator at Georgia Pacific for many years until his retirement.
Bruce loved nature and enjoyed going camping, fishing, and playing his guitar. Most of all, his love for his family, especially his great-grandchildren, was unmeasurable. Whether he was going for a Sunday outing with his wife and family, or playing ball with his neighbors, Gary and Brenda Bombard, Bruce cherished the time spent together.
Survivors include his children, Brenda Rabideau of Plattsburgh, Bruce Nichols, Jr. of Ellenburg, Tonya Parrotte and her companion Patrick Hanen of Ellenburg Depot, and Laura Nichols and her companion Charles Guerin of Ellenburg Depot; siblings, Dale (Linda) Nichols of Champlain, Patricia Darrah (Roger Wilfore) of Chazy, Sharon (Gordon) Whigham of Plattsburgh, and Barbara (Brian) LaBombard of Ellenburg; and a sister-in-law Christine Blow grandchildren, Kevin Burdo and his companion Amy McDevitt, Ashley Burdo, Chelsey (Jesse) Stolting, Franklin Nichols, Kayla Nichols, Spencer Nichols, Emma Guerin, Elizabeth Parrotte, Veronica See, and Frances Guerin; 11 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Bruce was predeceased by his parents; his wife, Frances; a sister Diane Nichols and a brother Armand Blow.
A private funeral mass will be held at St. Edmund's Church.
Entombment will take place in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Fitzpatrick Cancer Center or the American Cancer Society.
