Carol A.
Watts
October 14, 1944 – February 23, 2026
MOOERS--Carol Watts (Rabideau) passed away peacefully on February 23, 2026. Carol was well-known in the North Country for her beautiful Christmas wreaths. During the holiday season, her wreaths could be seen across the area as they were sold by local clubs and organizations for fundraising. She especially loved making Christmas wreaths and garland for the local churches and took great pride in contributing to the beauty of the holiday season.
Carol was born in Plattsburgh, NY on the 14th of October 1944 to Leo and Dorothy (Garrow) Rabideau. She grew up in Mooers, NY and married William Watts on September 11, 1966 at St. Joseph's Church. After marriage, Carol and Bill lived in Taiwan, Texas and New Jersey before eventually settling back in Mooers.
Carol was an avid entrepreneur and in 1985, with her husband, opened Mooers Lawn & Garden. Prior to that, Carol used to make a few hundred wreaths with her sister Audrey, before eventually making thousands under Mooers Lawn and Garden. In the Spring, she loved creating beautiful flower baskets for her customers. She grew many flowers and vegetables, and sold perennials, trees and shrubs. She had a huge garden and always canned vegetables for the winter. Grandma's blueberry patch was always a favorite with her grandchildren.
One of Carol's favorite places was the property along the river behind her house. She loved to sit out there and host family gatherings. Having family together was a great source of joy. She enjoyed the company of her friends, played cards and going out to see local music. Carol adored her grandchildren and always found ways to spoil them.
Carol is survived by her four sons, Michael Watts, Daniel Watts, Travis Watts and Fernando Lopez-Abat. She had one daughter, Victoria Watts (Jeff Rigsbee). She had seven grandchildren, Erik, Ellen, Alex, Matthew, Jackson, Donovan and Bodhi. She has one living sibling, her brother John Rabideau (Sandy) of Mooers, NY.
Carol was predeceased by her husband William Watts, her parents, and her two sisters, Audrey LeClaire and Lorraine LaFountain.
Calling hours will be held Friday, February 27, 2026 from 4:00 to 6:00pm at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11:00am at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Entombment will follow at the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum.
