Obituary

MOOERS, NY--- Charles L. Drown, 92, of Hemmingford Road, Mooers, NY passed away on Wednesday, March 6, 2013 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Ellenburg, NY on March 17, 1920 the son of Leonard and Fanny (Covey) Drown. He married the former Eva Nephew on February 24, 1941 at the Burke Methodist Church parsonage. They had just celebrated their 72nd Wedding Anniversary about a week ago.
Charles attended a one-room schoolhouse near Cannon's Corners. He began farming in 1941 in Ellenburg until 1963 when he moved to Mooers and continued to farm until his retirement in 1976. Even after his retirement, Charles worked for his son on the farm in the summer and he and Eva spent the winters in Florida.
His fondest memories included the three months they spent traveling to Alaska, hunting moose in northern Canada and deer hunting with his wife Eva, family and friends.
Charles was a member of the Mooers Wesleyan Church, Gideons International, Mooers Camp Meeting Association and past member of The Gulf View Hunting Club.
Survivors include his loving wife of 72 years, Eva of Mooers; two sons, Stephen C. Drown and his wife Jessie of Mooers (grandchildren Rebecca, Daniel and Kim) and Leonard R. Drown and his wife Sheila of Morrisonville (grandchildren Trista and Tyson); one son-in-law, Art Sanchagrin of Orlando, FL (grandchildren Kelly, Tonya and Tyese); one brother, Gene Drown of Ellenburg Depot; one brother-in-law, Carl Nephew of Ellenburg Depot; eight grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Judy Sanchagrin in 1999; one brother, Frank; and five sisters, Ruby, Bertha, Edith, Ida, and Beatrice.
His quiet belief in Jesus Christ has left a lasting impression on many that knew him. He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Calling hours will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, March 12, 2013 at 5 p.m. in the Mooers Wesleyan Church.
Burial will take place in the spring in Riverside Cemetery in Mooers.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Mooers Wesleyan Church, the Mooers Fire Department, the Mooers Camp Meeting Association, or Gideons International.
