MOOERS FORKS, NY---Clara Nephew, 82, of Cannons Corners Road, Mooers Forks, NY went to be with the Lord on Saturday, June 15, 2013 while surrounded by her loving family at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, after a courageous two year battle with Parkinson's Disease and Dementia.
Clara was born in Plattsburgh on August 5, 1930 the daughter of Harvey and Lena (Gadway) Hart. She married Richard J. Nephew on November 18, 1950 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks, NY.
Clara graduated from Mooers Central School. She briefly worked at Ayerst Laboratories in Rouses Point and the Slipper Factory in Mooers, before becoming a full time homemaker, dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Clara spent many summer weekends attending stock car races in support of her husband Dick's career. She loved to cook, clean and shop.
Survivors include her children, Gary Nephew and his wife Tammy of Mooers Forks, Linda Brothers of Mooers Forks, Dale Nephew and his wife Angela of Plattsburgh, and Lori Frennier and her husband Michael of Beekmantown; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Edith Hart of Mooers; a brother-in-law, Carl Nephew of Ellenburg; and several nieces and nephews.
Clara was predeceased by her parents; her husband Richard in 1996; a daughter Beverly in 1961; a son-in-law Donald Brothers in 2004; four siblings, George Hart, Catherine Nephew, Kenneth Hart, and Shirley Colgan; a sister-in-law Elsie Hart and a brother-in-law, Tom Colgan.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, June 17, 2013 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in St. Edmunds Church. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Mooers Fire Department or to the American Heart Association.
