Bosley
February 2, 1940 – June 27, 2020
ALTONA, NY – David Raymond Bosley, 80, of Devils Den Road, passed away June 27, 2020 at home with his loving family by his side. He was born at home in Mooers Forks on February 2, 1940 to Amos and Beatrice (Favreau) Bosley.
At a young age, David began his many careers on the family farm. He then joined the work force at the Slipper Factory in Mooers from 1957-1961, he went to Rosebud from 1961-1965, then Bouyea Bakery in 1965, retiring in March of 1984. David began his next career in 1983 operating the Candlelight Restaurant and Lounge in Ellenburg Depot, purchasing it in 1986, and then retiring and closing it in 2003. At the same time, he began driving bus at Northern Adirondack Central School in 1984, retiring in 2014.
He married the former Eileen Lafountain on August 19, 1961, and together they raised their family and worked side by side at the Candlelight. They catered many church dinners, weddings, and anniversaries as they assisted numerous family, friends, and members of the community to make special memories.
In his spare time, if there was any, he enjoyed cutting wood.
David was also a member of the Knight of Columbus Council 4441, former 4 th Degree, Faithful Navigator, and Grand Knight.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Eileen; 7 children and 13 grandchildren including, Deborah Bosley, Darlene (Dennis) Rabideau (their children Dylan and Danielle "Sissy"), Claire (Todd) Lambert (their children Noah, Cody and Austin), Randy (Kim) Bosley (their children Brett and his fiancé Susannah and Tyler), Ricky (Rena) Bosley (their children Samantha and Olivia), Christine (Rick) Kalvaitis (their children Joshua and Evan), and Kevin (Joyce) Bosley (their children Nicholas Boire and Michelle Helm and her husband Josh).
Six siblings, Edna Sherman, Loretta (Ronald) Kirby, Lawrence Bosley, Edward (Theresa) Bosley, Thomas (Joan) Bosley, Bernard (Theresa) Bosley and brother-in-law Romain Perras.
He also leaves behind Eileen's eleven siblings, Yvonne (Roger) Lavalley, Armand Lafountain, Clarence Lafountain, Jeannette (Wayne) Labarge, Dorothy (Real) Duteau, Joan (Thomas) Bosley, Barbara (Alex) Bechard, Susan (John) Anctil, Francis (Connie) Lafountain, and Patricia (Robert) Dessurault and sister-in-law Gloria Lafountain along with numerous nieces and nephews.
David was predeceased by his parents, father and mother-in-law, Noah and Louise (Menard) Lafountain; siblings Jeannette Perras, Mary Bosley, brother-in-law, Albert Lafountain; sister-in-law, Marie Lafountain; brother-in-law Gerald Sherman; sister-in-law Janice Lafountain and nephew, Eric Bosley.
Family will receive guests on Wednesday, July 1 st from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Holy Angels Church in Altona. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 10:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Church with burial to follow in St. Ann's Cemetery in Mooers Forks. Face coverings will be required at all gatherings.
Donations in his memory may be made to Jane's Fight Fund (which he was a recipient of), Altona Volunteer Fire Department (who have taken exceptional care of him right until the end), or Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
