ELLENBURG CENTER – Diana L. McNeil, 75, of Brandy Brook Road, passed away unexpectedly, January 6, 2024.
She was born on September 11, 1948, daughter of Vern and Gertrude (Gregory) Thibeau.
Diana graduated from Ellenburg Central School. She married the love of her life, James McNeil on December 26, 1966 in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.
Diana retired after many years of service with the Clinton County Clerk's office.
She was an avid seamstress and quilter. Her talent will forever be remembered in the numerous beautiful pieces she crafted. Diana also enjoyed reading, and was an amazing cook and baker and was voted "Betty Crocker of Tomorrow" in high school.
Diana was a devoted wife, mother, mimi, and grammy. She will forever remain in our hearts.
Those left to cherish her memory are her husband, James McNeil and her beloved cavapoo, Silvie; son, Tracy McNeil; daughters, Tricia (Matt) Brassard and Erika (Daniel) Nelson; siblings, Alan (Arlene) Thibeau, Nathalie Finlayson, and Susan (James) Tourville; grandchildren, Kyle (Ashley) Brassard, Tyler Brassard, Hannah (Joshua) Phaneuf, Parker Brassard, Evan Nelson (Darian Brooks) and Allie Nelson; step-grandchildren, Grant (Erin) Brassard, Melissa (Ronnie) McCrea, Matthew (Shawnna) Brassard, Amanda Brassard, and Allan Brassard; thirteen great-grandchildren (with another on the way); and many nieces and nephews.
Diana was predeceased by a son, James Merritt McNeil; sister, Alice Smith; brothers-in-law, John Finlayson & Louis Smith; parents, Vern & Gertrude Thibeau; and mother and father in-law, Glenn & Evelyn McNeil.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 11th from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home. A funeral service will follow at 5:30 in the funeral home chapel.
Donations in her memory may be made to the Ellenburg Center Fire Department or Hospice of the North Country.
