Eric G. Lamb's Obituary
ELLENBURG---Eric G. Lamb, 86, of Route 11, Ellenburg, passed away on Friday, October 24, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Franklin Centre, Quebec, Canada, on February 18, 1928, the son of James and Jenny (Blair) Lamb.
Eric attended local schools in Franklin Center, Quebec. He married the former Bernice Colgan on October 28, 1953. He spent his life working on the family farm in Churubusco for over 39 years. Eric enjoyed being in the woods using his chainsaw to cut trees and gather wood for the winter, continuing to do this right up to the day of his passing. Eric enjoyed the many special moments he had with his wife, including going square dancing with her. He spent many years mowing and caring for the Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.
Eric was caring, loving, and giving man. He always extended a welcoming spirit to everyone he encountered and enjoying visiting with them.
Survivors include his loving wife of almost 61 years, Bernice Lamb of Ellenburg; three children, Rev. John Lamb and his wife Maritza of Allentown, PA, Joy Barcomb and her husband Francis of Clifton Park, NY, and Judy Lamb of Ellenburg Center; four grandsons, Kris Barcomb, Dr. Timothy Barcomb, Brandon Barcomb, and Robert Lamb; seven great-grandchildren, Lainey, Timothy, Caroline, Ryan, Stella, Reagan and Adelaide Barcomb; one sister, Iona Maither of Rockburn, Quebec; and several nieces and nephews.
Eric was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Melvin and Ross Lamb; and three sisters, Muriel Barrington, Violet Goundrey, and Esther Lamb.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, October 27, 2014 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
