Obituary

MOOERS - Eva Mae Nephew Drown, beloved Mom and Gram, age 99 of Mooers, NY went into the arms of her Lord and Savior peacefully on June 16, 2023, surrounded by her loving family.

Eva was born the 11th child of Albert and Emma Nephew in Mooers Forks, NY on April 16, 1924. She was one of 18 children, 14 of whom lived into adulthood. She was the last surviving sibling.

Eva was married to her loving husband, Charles Drown in 1941, and they were happily married for 72 years until his passing in 2013. The love that they shared for each other and their family has left a lasting legacy for everyone who was blessed to know them.

Eva attended school in Mooers. She found joy in being a farmer's wife, always at Charles's side, helping in milking cows, haying, and serving huge meals when farmers would gather to share in bringing in the fall crops. Her meals are still talked about to this day. She was famous for her delicious homemade pies and her family looked forward to eating her treats whenever they visited. Eva served as a Sunday school teacher, Member of Mooers Wesleyan Church, Vice President and Honorary trustee of Mooers Camp Meeting, Member of the ladies Gideon Auxiliary, and was well known as a prayer warrior. She enjoyed selling Avon for several years. She loved to golf and was an avid hunter and was known as the 'Great White Huntress'. Charles and Eva spent over 30 winters in Florida . They enjoyed traveling together, and even drove cross country to Alaska and back and then later to California and back.

Eva is survived by two sons Stephen Drown (Jessie) of Mooers, Leonard Drown (Sheila) of Morrisonville, 8 grandchildren: Rebecca Drown Bruso (Robert), Daniel Drown (Stephanie), Kelley Sanchagrin Vandercleaf (Jerry), Trista Drown Fancy ( fiance Kevin), Tonya Sanchagrin Powell (Warren), Kim Drown Letoureau (Chris), Tyese Sanchagrin Mayer (Dan), Tyson Drown (Valarie), 12 great grandchildren: Meagan, Devin, Jeffery, Jordan, Paige, Hailey, Grace, Major, Makayla, Mallory, Nicholas and Emma, 6 great great grandchildren: Haper, Dexter, Kezeah, Olivia, Isabelle and Ivy, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Eva was predeceased by her parents, daughter Judy Sanchagrin, siblings, Irene Saunders, Leo Nephew, Wilmer Nephew, Lillian Robinson, Bertha Provost, Earl Nephew, Pearl Ash, Delsie Begore, Carl Nephew, Harold Nephew, Stella Sheehy, Richard Nephew, Ruby Goodell, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at the Mooers Wesleyan Church on Thursday June 22, from 1:00 to 2:00. Funeral service will follow at 2:00PM. The burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Mooers immediately after the funeral. A reception will be held at the Mooers Wesleyan Church.
