Obituary

ELLENBURG CENTER---Frances G. Dunn, 92, of Route 11, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 17,2017 at her residence.
She was born in Ellenburg, NY on July 24, 1924, the daughter of George and Mamie (LeClair) Cook.
Frances married Elmer Dunn on Flag Day, June 14, 1941, at the Ellenburg Center Methodist Church. Elmer passed away on August 11, 2002.
She attended a one room school house in Ellenburg. Frances was kind gentle soul who had many enjoyments in life. These included spending time in her garden, shoveling snow, long telephone conversations with family and friends, and making fudge, donuts, and canning. She also loved to sew dog blankets for the shelters. Frances's caring heart will be missed by all who knew her. She was always worrying about everyone else, and doing all she could to help other people out.
Survivors include her loving daughters, Mamie Gregory of Ellenburg Center, and Judy Dunn of Ellenburg Center; one brother, Norm Cook and Ginger of Brasher Falls, NY; daughter-in-law, Patsy Ignatowicz of Vernon, CT; five grandchildren, Alan and Ann Backus of Harbor Beach, MI, Mike Backus of Ellenburg Center, Rodney Backus of Ellenburg Center, Shane and Mary Jo Dunn of Glastonburg, CT, and Shannon Dunn of Mobile, AL; one great-grandchild, Paul Backus of Harbor Beach, MI; her faithful aide, Darlene Bobbie of Ellenburg Center; two sisters-in-law, Katherine Whalen of Wassaic, NY and Eunice Cook of Plattsburgh; her nosey and entertaining bird, Red; and several nieces and nephews.
Frances was predeceased by her parents; her husband; one son, Gary Dunn on June 12, 1981; one daughter, Jean Backus on May 3, 2012; two grandchildren, Brian Backus and Luke Gary Dunn; four siblings, Lillian LaClair, Russell Cook, Ida LaFave, and Ed Bruno; two sons-in-law, John Gregory and Lynn Backus; a sister-in-law, Marie Cook; and four brothers-in-law, Bud LaClair, Lionel LaFave, Ed Dunn, and Howard Whalen.
Calling hours and funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Burial will take place in the spring at a time to be announced in Riverside Cemetery in Ellenburg Center.
