ELLENBURG CENTER, NY---Frances Magoon, 55, of Carlson Street, passed away on Monday, October 5, 2015 at the CVPH Medical Center.
She was born in Plattsburgh, NY on November 26, 1959, the daughter of Clifton and Grace (Carter) Varin.
Frances graduated from Northern Adirondack Central School in 1977 and then attended SUNY Potsdam. She was also currently taking courses to fulfill her degree in Christian Counseling.
Frances worked at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility as Activities Director for many years. She was passionate about helping others and doing everything she could to assist both the young and elderly.
Frances was an avid Yankees Fan, enjoyed going to the casino and collecting recipes. She was also an avid book reader and enjoyed spending time writing. Frances enjoyed her trips with family and friends especially traveling to Myrtle Beach, Maine, and Florida. Her love of family will be greatly missed by those she leaves behind.
Survivors include her husband, Wayne Magoon of Ellenburg Center; three children, Jonathan and Christa Magoon of West Chazy, Jason and Dawn Magoon of Holden, MA, and Jordynne Magoon of Ellenburg Center; her mother, Grace O'Hearn; step-mother, Martha Jozwick; one sister-in-law, Doreen Barcomb and her husband Danny; one sister, Kim Varin; one brother, Clifton Varin; three grandchildren, Jillian Magoon, Owen Magoon, and Evan Magoon; one niece, Shawna DeAngelo and her husband Chris; two great-nieces, Taylor Manor and Brielle DeAngelo; one great-nephew, Bryce DeAngelo; a dear friend, Kim Matthews; and her loving canine companion, Picasso.
Frances was predeceased by her father.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 9, 2015 from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A funeral service will follow at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Frances's memory may be made to the H.K. Freedman Renal Center at the CVPH Foundation.
