ELLENBURG CENTER, NY --- Francis "Frank" D. LaClair, 63, of Star Road, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 1, 2011 at University Medical Center in Las Vegas, NV.
He was born in Malone, NY on August 12, 1947, the son of David and Carol (Carter) LaClair.
He married the former Janet Poupore on May 31, 1969 in St. Patrick's Church in Chateaugay.
Francis dedicated his life to farming. He owned and operated the Fran-Jan Farm located on the family homestead in Ellenburg Center until retiring in July of 2009.
Francis was a member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Edmund's Church, the former treasurer of the Chateaugay Co-op, and the Clinton County Holstein Association.
He loved to travel with his wife during his lifetime and always made many new friends on his trips. Francis was currently in Las Vegas with his wife celebrating their anniversary.
Francis most of all enjoyed spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Janet LaClair of Ellenburg Center; three children, David LaClair of Plattsburgh, Matt LaClair and his wife Erin of Ellenburg, and Missy LaClair of Mooers Forks; three grandchildren, Keller, Scotlyn, and Emmett, his mother Carol LaClair of Ellenburg, NY; one uncle, John and Coleen of Malone; nine brother and sister-in-laws, Floyd and Marilyn Poupore, Tom and Muriel Campbell, James and Mary Poupore, Jerry Poupore, Kenny and Linda Prevo, Terry Poupore, John and Eileen Poupore, David and Cindy Marger, and Paul and Sue Gregory; his Godson, Jourdain Poupore; and a close special family friend, Darcy Rabideau.
He was predeceased by his father, two brothers-in-law, Mike Poupore and Donald Poupore, and two sisters-in-law, Rita Ryan and Nancy Poupore.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, June 7, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
