Obituary

Garth A. Bisonette, 86, of Chateaugay, passed away peacefully Saturday, October 10, 2026 at UVM-Alice Hyde Hospital in Malone with his family by his side. He was born at the family farm in Chateaugay on April 3, 1940 in the middle of a snowstorm. Garth was the youngest son of Claude and Adeline (Anderson) Bisonette, Sr.

He married Diane Flynn on October 21, 1961 and settled in working the family farm with his dad, eventually taking ownership. Garth also did carpentry work on the side during the slow seasons on the farm, just to keep busy. In 1989 the family farm was sold and Garth went back to carpentry, he later went to work for the Town of Chateaugay in the highway department. He loved the outdoors, snowmobiling with family and friends, four wheeling at camp in Drain Pond or taking the side by side to Hillside Hunting Club to do a little hunting, play some cards, tell some jokes or have a couple of beers.

Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Diane Bisonette; son, Bruce Bisonette; daughter, Barbara (Marty) Maggy; grandchildren, Justin Bisonette, Jared Bisonette, Mitchell (Brooke) Maggy; great-grandchildren, Hunter Bisonette and Ella Maggy; brother, Keith (Nellie) Bisonette; sisters and brothers-in-laws, Eva Bisonette, Gail Bisonette, Judy Beauchaine, Jack (Lois) Flynn, Larry (Mary) Flynn; as well as several nieces and nephews. Garth was predeceased by his parents; son, Brian; and brother, Claude Bisonette Jr.
