ELLENBURG CENTER, NY
- Gerald Dupuis, 72, of West Hill Road, passed away Saturday, January 20, 2018 at CVPH.
He was born in Ellenburg Center on November 16, 1945, the son of Jerome and Leona (LaGasse) Dupuis. Following the passing of his father, Gerald at the age of 22, returned to Ellenburg and committed his time to taking care of his mother and younger siblings.
Gerald later owned and operated Ellenburg Hardware in Ellenburg Depot for 40 years, where he dedicated his life to his business. Helping his customers and those in the community was very important to Gerald. No matter what day of the week or what hour of the day, Gerald was there to help anyone.
He was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, a former member of the Ellenburg Center Fire Department and also served as former Chief for several years. Gerald was also a member of the Clinton County Republican Party Committee and served as Chairman of the Ellenburg Republican Party.
Gerald loved to be out in the beauty of the Adirondacks, and spent much of his time hunting and fishing.
He was a loving son, brother, uncle, and friend, and those left behind to cherish his memory include five brothers, Richard and Kathy Dupuis of Ellenburg Center, Herman Dupuis of Ellenburg Depot, Rolland Dupuis and companion Lois of Churubusco, Joseph and Vicki Dupuis of Stillwater, NY, and Larry Dupuis of Washington, DC; seven sisters, Rose Kloiber of Lakeland, FL, Theresa and George Carlson of Champlain, Pauline and John Mitchell of Champlain, Gloria Columbe of Chazy, Helen and Michael Guay of Mooers Forks, Eunice and Vernon Roberts of Wingdale, and Marion and Steve Matthews of Churubusco; and several nieces and nephews.
Gerald was predeceased by his parents; one sister-in-law, Carol Dupuis; three brothers-in-law, Paul Kloiber, Bob Miner, and John Columbe; and 5 nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, January 23, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in his memory may be made to the Ellenburg Center Fire Department.
