LLENBURG DEPOT, NY---Gertrude O. Moore, 97, formerly of Clinton Mills Road, passed away peacefully on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Evergreen Valley Nursing Home.
She was born in Clinton, NY on July 24, 1917, the daughter of John and Ruth (Colgan) Ash. Gertrude married Lynn Herbert Moore in 1939. He predeceased her in 1981.
Gertrude spent her life caring for others. She was a former Clinton County Caregiver, and even received the Caregiver of the Year Award in 1998. Gertrude was a member of the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church and was a Sunday School Teacher for many years. Above all else was the love she had for her family and especially being known as the "built in babysitter." She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother.
Survivors include her two children, Gwendolyn Baker of Ellenburg Depot and Larry "Chub" Moore and his wife Shirley of Ellenburg Depot; seven grandchildren, Lyn Duffy, Julie Finley, Rodney Baker, Linda Trim, Melody Moore, Tara Duprey, and Ashley Bushmoore; twelve great-grandchildren; and 16 ½ great-great-grandchildren, with the new arrival expected in August.
Gertrude was predeceased by her husband; a daughter, Alicia M. Barcomb in 2004; son, Gary L. Moore in 1981; two sons-in-law, Doug Baker in 2014 and Leeward Barcomb in 1988; grandson, Randy Baker; and great-granddaughter, Morgin Baker.
Calling hours will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home chapel.
Burial will follow in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in Gertrude's memory may be made to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department or the Churubusco Fire Department.
