Obituary

ELLENBURG DEPOT, NY --- One of our most precious Godly women went to be with her Lord and Savior on Friday. Her brilliant blue eyes lit up when she met Jesus with her one and only love, Douglas by His side. She was ushered into heaven with her loving family by her side.

Gwen spent most of her life in service. Born and raised on a little farm on Canaan Hill, the daughter of Lynn and Gertrude Moore. She and Doug were married at a young age and started their family of four: Lyn (Gary) Duffy, Randall Baker, Julie (Kevin) Finley, and Rodney (Joanne) Baker. One of her children, Randy, was there in heaven to greet her as well as her granddaughter, Morgin.

Gwen worked tirelessly keeping a beautiful home for her family. She also spent 25 years working for Clinton County caring for elderly or shut-in patients; each of whom became part of her extended family. One of her passions was for the Shoebox ministry, each year trying to pack more shoeboxes than the last. The packing of boxes became a family tradition involving all ages.

Gwen leaves, here on earth, her baby brother, Larry (Shirley) Moore but will be greeted by her brother, Gary and sister, Alicia, in heaven.

Family was Gram's greatest achievement here on earth. Grandchildren: Amy (Erik) Richard, Kami (Craig) Hicks, Kelly (Cullen) Coryer, Casey (Joe) Kourofsky, Trevor (Maegan) Finley, Candace (Jeremiah) Cross, Brittany (James) Labombard, Cala (Robert) Colpoys.

Great grandchildren were her delight: Alex, Thomas, Gwendolyn, Sam, Lucy, Jackson, Maxwell, Addy, Bhea, Grace, Gavin, Clara, Brycen, Morgin, and Paytin.

Our beautiful mom has lived the last six years without the true love of her life. She missed him every day, yet, she never gave in to sadness or depression because she felt she had to be strong for her children. When her body betrayed her and her health declined, she was forced to let us care for her, which has been one of our greatest blessings as her children. However, she never ever stopped thinking she could do things for herself. She was too strong for her own good. Our mom never broke a rule; she lived an honest life, faithful to our Lord and still lived and died "her way". Our strongest link has been broken, leaving emptiness in our hearts. But Mom, we promise to go on the way you taught us by your example. Our family will thrive.

We would like to express appreciation for all the support throughout these last weeks to Hospice, Karen, and our very special Mary. So much kindness that can never be repaid.

Visitation will be held on Monday, April 19 th from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. Burial will take place in Sheldon Hill Cemetery in Ellenburg Depot.
