Harold Joseph "Pete" LaBarge of Forest Road, Ellenburg Depot entered eternal life on Thursday, September 1, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
He was born in Forest, NY on July 25, 1935, the son of Rollie and Margaret LaBarge. He graduated from Altona Central School and studied agriculture at Canton College. He then proudly served in the United States Army before returning to Forest to run the family business, LaBarge's Western Auto, until his retirement in 1999.
He married Mary Malark on May 29, 1965 at St. Edmund's Church and they enjoyed 51 years of love and adventures together. Along with his family, Pete's greatest loves were the outdoors, traveling, gambling and his horses and beagles.
Left to cherish his memory are his devoted wife, Mary; brother and best friend, Ronnie LaBarge; sisters Lola Bedard, Linda LaBarge and husband Walter Frasier; nieces Roxanne LaBarge, Judy (Brent) Suddaby and sons Jake, Joe, and Jackson, Patricia (Robert) Young and sons Matthew and Owen, Karen (Ole) Bedard-Kjolleberg and daughters Olea and Synove; in-laws Vernon and Beverly Malark and Bernadette and Mark Mercer; several other nieces and nephews; and his beloved canine companion, Duke.
Calling hours will be held from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, September 5th at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A mass of Christian burial will be held on Tuesday, September 6th at 11:00 at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Entombment will follow in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
