Obituary

MOOERS FORKS – Harold M. Rabideau, 86, of Cannon Corners Road, passed away, June 19, 2023 due to a farming accident.

He was born in Mooers Forks on July 7, 1936, son of Herman and Clara Rabideau, Sr.

Harold met the love of his life, the former Shirley Soden, and they later married on February 2, 1957 at St. Ann's Church in Mooers Forks. Shirley predeceased him on July 13, 2018 after 61 years of marriage.

He was an Honorary Member of the Mooers Volunteer Fire Department a founding member of the Mooers Fire Station # 2 in 1980, a member of the Mooers Knights of Columbus, and former board member of the Chateaugay Co-Op and Agway.

Harold enjoyed going hunting, snowmobiling, riding his four-wheeler, and most of all spending time with his family and friends.

He spent his life dairy farming and was a 3rd generation owner of the Rabideau Dairy Farm as well as a former maple syrup producer.  He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and friend.

Survivors include his three children, Norma (Leo) Langevin, Lynn (Marvin) DeCoste, and Dale H. Rabideau;  grandchildren, Amy (Cory) Provost, Armand Langevin, Chrysa Rabideau, and Marlyna Rabideau;  two great-grandchildren, Bristol and Myla Provost;  siblings, Marilyn (Gerald) Gadway, Edith Suprenant, Marie Trombley, and Jane Forkey;  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Rhoda Rabideau, David McCrea, Floyd LaValley, Robert Lamberton, Nancy (Cliff) Dupee, and Pat Rucker;  and many nieces and nephews.

Harold was predeceased by his parents;  siblings, Herman Rabideau, Jr., and Rufus (Rita) Rabideau;  brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Robert Suprenant, Charles Trombley, Jim Forkey, Morris Rabideau, Francis Rabideau, Robert Soden, Jr., Marion McCrea, Joyce LaValley, Janet Lamberton, and Marilyn Rabideau.

At Harold's request, all services will private and at the convenience of the family.

Entombment will take place at the Town of Ellenburg Mausoleum in Ellenburg Depot.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Harold's memory may be made to the Mooers Fire Station or the Mooers/Champlain EMS.
