Obituary

PLATTSBURGH--- Hazel L. Fortier, 93, passed away, December 3, 2018.  She was born in Churubusco, NY on January 19, 1925, the daughter of the late James and Mary (Franklin) Lagree.

Hazel graduated from Chateaugay High School in 1942 and the Adirondack Commercial School in 1944.  She was employed as a Senior Stenographer at Dannemora State Hospital for a year and then as a secretary for Republic Steel Corporation beginning in August of 1944, retiring in October of 1982 after 38 years of service.

Hazel was a charter and life member of the Sorrell-Woodward American Legion Post 1623 Ladies Auxiliary, a life member of the VFW Post 10164 Ladies Auxiliary in Interlachen, FL, a life and charter member of the Court Our Ladies of the Snows, Catholic Daughters of America in Lyon Mountain, life member of the DVA Ladies Auxiliary, and a member of the Friends of Lyon Mountain.

She married George D. Revoir on May 17, 1947. He passed away on February 9, 1986 and later met Henry E. Fortier.  They married on December 18, 1992 and Henry passed away on September 1, 2006.

Hazel is survived by her sister, Dorothy Woods of Plattsburgh;  step-daughter, Gail Anderson;  step-son, Paul Fortier and wife Sandra; and several nieces, nephews, step-grandchildren, and step-great-grandchildren.

Hazel was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Watson and Anna Gooley and her husband Ronald;  one brother-in-law, Ernest Woods;  and step-son-in-law, Donald Anderson.

Hazel was thankful for the friendships and excellent care she received in her later years at the Samuel F. Vilas Home and the Clinton County Nursing Home.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 8 th from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home.  A funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Entombment will take place in Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
