CHAZY LAKE, NY: Isreal "Bill" S. Dubray, 75, died Friday, September 7, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center surrounded by his loving family due to complications of lung cancer. Isreal was born August 2, 1937 in Plattsburgh, NY to Israel and Bertha(Varin) Dubray. He graduated from Ellenburg High School in 1955 and served in the US Air Force from 1955 to 1959 and was honorably discharged. Isreal worked for the State of New York for 35 years retiring in 1995 from the Department of Correctional Services.
Isreal will be remembered as a man with a strong character who was hard working with an incredible will to accomplish anything he set his mind out to do. In 1995 he bought a mobile saw mill accompanied by his best friend from childhood, Derrick Venne, traveled the North Country sawing lumber. Together they explored the North Country making many new friends and memories along the way as they enjoyed their retirement. Isreal along with father and brother enjoyed working on the family farm throughout his life and it brought him a great sense of accomplishment. As the years went by and his battle with cancer dragged on, Isreal enjoyed visiting the neighbors giving advice whenever he could. Isreal enjoyed four wheeling, motorcycling and snowmobiling especially with his deceased good friend Tim Carter and special friend Charlie Willie. Charlie accompanied Isreal to most doctor appointments and together they enjoyed each others company exchanging opinions that sometimes turned into lively debates. Isreal also loved a good game of horseshoes which as many frustrated opponents had to admit, he was a tough competitor. He made many friends playing horseshoes in several leagues throughout the North Country.
The family would like to thank Dr. Duus, Dr. Qudsi, the Oncology staff and the staff on R-5 at CVPH for the compassionate care of Isreal.
