ALTONA – Janice "Jan" Gillett, 68, of Miner Farm Road, passed away, December 8, 2019 surrounded by her loving family.

She was born in Plattsburgh on September 22, 1951, the daughter of Floyd and Helen (Franklin) Jarvis.

Jan worked in the Financial Aid office at SUNY Plattsburgh for over 30 years before retiring in 2018.   She loved helping others and would look forward to going into work every single day to help more students. Her patience and kindness knew no limits.  She was a compassionate listener to anyone who just needed to talk.

Jan was an avid photographer.  She loved to capture the beauty of nature and special times with those she loved.  She enjoyed music, playing pool with her family and friends, and loved trains.

Survivors include her daughter, Sarah Reyell and her husband Darrell of Altona;  brother, Ronnie Jarvis and his wife Elsie of Altona; sister, Jean Bruce of Milton, VT;  brother-in law, Clarence Lucia; two grandchildren, Dylan Xavier Reyell and Keegan Richard Reyell; and several nieces and nephews.

Jan was predeceased by her parents; her sister, Joan Lucia; and former husband, Wayne Gillett.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, December 13 ^th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg.
