Obituary

MOOERS, NY---John C. Harron, 64, of Champlain Street, died Tuesday, October 18, 2011 at Fletcher Allen Healthcare Center in Burlington, VT.
He was born in Brooklyn, NY on July 8, 1947, the son of Raymond and Helene (Mahady) Harron.
John graduated from Bay Shore High School, and later attended and graduated from Suffolk Community College and then Plattsburgh State University.
He married his loving wife, Kay Woods on July 26, 1980 in Rouses Point, NY.
John was a U.S. Army Veteran and served a year of his service in Vietnam.
John retired from the U.S. Customs Service as a Supervisory Customs Inspector after 25 years of service. He was an expert marksman and prior firearms instructor with the U.S. Customs Service. Following retirement and currently, he worked for U.S. Security Associates, Inc, as a security officer at Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh.
John was very involved with his family and his community. He was Director of the "Bridges" learning program at St. Mary's Academy in Champlain, NY and also the prior School Board President at St. Mary's. He was involved with community theater and performing with the Adirondack Regional Theater and the Chazy Music Theater. He was also a member of the National Rifle Association.
John was a classic movie buff and trivia expert. He enjoyed listening to classic rock music and was an avid Yankees Fan!
Survivors include his wife of 31 years, Kay of Mooers; his daughter, Ashley Harron of Mooers; one brother, Raymond Harron of Las Vegas, NV; two sisters, Helene Patricia Harron and Marie E. Harron both of Bay Shore, NY; his mother-in-law, Dorothy Woods of Churubusco, NY; two sisters-in-law, Peggy (Woods) Duncan and her husband Dwight of Katy, TX and Anna Mae Woods of Ellenburg; one brother-in-law, Jim Woods and his wife Elaine of Cadyville, NY; one niece, Heather and Peter Beauparlant of Phoenix, AZ; and three nephews, Sean and Elise Harron of Las Vegas, NV, Mitchell and Andrea Duncan of Katy, TX, and Doug Miller of Ellenburg.
John was predeceased by his parents and his father-in-law, Ernest Woods.
John was a loving, kind husband and father. The sun rose and set on his beloved daughter, Ashley. He treasured the experiences he shared with her, particularly their involvement with the Adirondack Regional Theater. John will always be remembered for his acting debut as "MR.MUSHNIK" in "Little Shop of Horrors." John's wit and natural comedic talent has kept his family, friends, and co-workers chuckling through the years. He will be greatly missed by Kay, the love of his life for over 31 years; his loving daughter, Ashley; and all who knew him.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, October 21, 2011 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.
Entombment will follow at Whispering Maples Memorial Gardens in Ellenburg Depot.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Mary's Academy in Champlain, NY.
