ELLENBURG DEPOT – John W. Mumley, 72, of the Plank Road, passed away March 17, 2024.

He was born in Watterbury, CT on June 7, 1951, son of Rene and Geraldine (Benjamin) Mumley.

John enjoyed delivering firewood for many years throughout Vermont and New York.

In his later years, John found an interest in Computer Numeric Control, where he crafted many pieces of art in wood.  He was also an avid mechanic who loved to tinker around with any type of engine.

John was a lover of nature and being outside on their "hobby farm" where he enjoyed being one with the land.  He was also a lover of all animals and enjoyed going boating with his wife Fran in his younger years.

Survivors include his loving wife, Fran (Orlan) Mumley whom he married on June 2, 1984;  sister-in-law, Donna (Orlan) Horth and her husband Ghislain; his devoted German Shepard, Hazel;   and many nieces and nephews.

John was predeceased by his parents.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
