FORT COVINGTON, NY--- Mr. Joseph J. Lauzon (Joey), 77, of 978 County Route 43, Fort Covington passed away Saturday, November 30, 2019 at home after battling ALS. He was born March 20, 1942 in Fort Covington, the son of Joseph and Hazel Martin Lauzon.
After attending Salmon River Central School, Joey served in the United States Army during the Vietnam conflict. His first marriage to Constance Tarbell ended in divorce. Joey was an ironworker for 35 years, working out of Local 12 Albany, where he was a lifetime member. He was a member of the Salmon River Post 1418 American Legion, Fort Covington. Joey was also a member of the 31 Club.
Joey enjoyed having a good time with his family and his many friends. He also enjoyed playing cards, going to the casino and he was an avid hunter. Joey was a free spirit and lived his life to the fullest.
Joey is survived by two sons: Joseph and Euroya Lauzon (Johnstown), Jeffrey and Joyce Lauzon (Akwesasne), 10 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He is also survived by his significant of 37 years, Eloise Massaro and step children Michael Massaro (Rochester), Jason Massaro (Fort Covington) and Renee Massaro and Kenny (Dundee) and 5 step grandchildren; 7 brothers and 3 sisters: Donald and Martha (North Tonawanda); Robert and Ann (St. Regis Falls); Philip and Sylvia (Fort Covington); Carl and Mona (Fort Covington); Harold and Emily (Fort Covington); Michael and Kathleen (Fort Covington); Paul and Darlene (Fort Covington); Margaret Chifton (Tennessee); Rita and Jim (Chateaugay); Anne and Judy (Johnstown), brothers-in-law Alfred Almond and Philip Burl (Fort Covington), sisters-in-law Sandy Lauzon and Trudy Lauzon (Fort Covington) and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Also, his chosen brothers Jon Hutchins (Lake Titus), Aaron Oakes (Akwesasne), chosen sons Danny and Darby Oakes (Akwesasne), chosen granddaughters Beth Tremblay (Syracuse) and Courtney Temple (Paul Smiths). Joey was predeceased by his parents, brothers Gerald, Ronald and Roger, sisters Theresa Almond, Helen Burl and Janet Marlauk.
At Joey's request there will be no services. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2020 at the Fort Covington American Legion. Joey will be sadly missed.
