It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother, sister and friend, Kathryn "Kay" Seguin on September 18, 2026 in Plattsburgh, New York, surrounded by family and friends. Kathryn was born on July 11, 1940 to Anthony Ferncez, Sr. and Jane (Ciavarella) Ferncez in Youngstown, Ohio. Kay attended South High School in Youngstown, Ohio, leaving during the 11th grade to enter the workforce. Wanting to complete her education, she later earned her GED, a reflection of the perseverance and determination she carried throughout her life.

Kay’s faith was an important part of her life. For many years, she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at St. Edmund's church and also served as parish secretary for many years. Throughout her working years, Kay also worked as a secretary at Northeastern Clinton Central School and Northland Hides.

Kay was strong-willed and stubborn, but those who knew her best knew that her stubbornness came with an enormous heart. She was a worrier, especially when it came to the people she loved. If bad weather was coming, you could count on a phone call from Kay making sure you knew about it, usually followed by, “Let me know when you get there.” She loved watchingWheel of Fortune, enjoyed trips to the casino, and had a few sayings that were unmistakably Kay, including “Well, I’ll be darned” and the often-used “true dat”—the latter never failing to make her grandchildren cringe.

Left to honor her memory are her sons, Michael Louis (Naomi) of New Carlisle, OH, Robert Louis, Jr. (Gina), of Columbus, NC, William Louis (Nichole) of Cadyville, NY; daughter, Jessica Anctil (Matthew) of Mooers Forks, NY; daughter-in-law Cindy Louis of High Springs, FL; brothers, Anthony Ferncez, Jr. (Imelda) of Azusa, CA, Joseph Ferncez of Camden, SC, James Ferncez (Leatha) of Centerville, OH and Michael Ferncez (Gretchen) of North Canton, OH; grandchildren, Jody Louis (Brittany), Derrick Boozer (Lindsey), John Louis (Megan), Zachary Louis (Kristen), Robert Louis, III, Kellen Louis (Bryanna Garrand), Annalise Louis, Luke Anctil, Hannah Anctil (James Guay) and Carley Anctil. Kay was also proud to be the great-grandmother to Abigail and Sylvia Louis, Jase Boozer, Logan Barbera, Wren Louis and Knox Guay. In addition, Kay leaves behind several nieces, nephews and friends.

In addition to her parents, Kay was predeceased by her son, Edward "Eddie" Louis and sisters-in-law Carol Ferncez and Sonia Ferncez.

Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Rabideau Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Edmund’s Church in Ellenburg on Thursday, September 24, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by burial at St. Edmund’s Cemetery.

Following the burial, family and friends are warmly invited to gather in the Blue Room at the Rainbow Banquet Hall for a Celebration of Kay’s Life, where we will share memories, stories, and time together honoring a life that meant so much to so many.
