Obituary

ELLENBURG, NY – Kenneth J. LaBarge, 92, formerly of Glenns Way, passed away, July 27, 2020.

He was born in Ellenburg Depot on November 19, 1927, son of Lee and Laura (Broderick) LaBarge.

Ken married the former Margaret (Nadeau) on July 7, 1949 in Dover Plains, NY.

He worked for the U.S. Postal service in the Tri-Lakes area for ten years.  Ken also owned and operated LaBarge's Home Gas in Ellenburg, and also owned the Travelers Motel in Ellenburg, which he and Margaret operated from 1955-1975.

Ken was always involved with his community and served as fireman for 40 years and also held the position of Fire Commissioner for 25 years.  He was a member of the Ellenburg VFW, the Knights of Columbus, and a former member of the Elks and Kiwanis.

In his spare time, Ken enjoyed showing horses in shows, golfing, and bowling.

Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Margaret LaBarge;  sons, Francis (Susan) LaBarge, Gary (Debbie) LaBarge, and Timothy (Susan Bushey) LaBarge;  brother-in-law, James Dugan;  grandchildren, Michael LaBarge, Lee (Claudine) LaBarge, Ryan LaBarge, and Jason Arneson;  great-grandchildren, Clarie Marie LaBarge and Catlin LaBarge;  and several nieces and nephews.

Ken was predeceased by brothers, Francis and Bernard (Mary) LaBarge;  and four sisters, Rita Washburn, Veronica Newton, Margaret Varno, and Theresa Dugan.

Services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.  Burial will take place in St. Edmund's Cemetery in Ellenburg.
