ELLENBURG CENTER, NY --- Leo J. LaBombard, 73, of LaBombard Road, passed away on Saturday, November 3, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.
He was born in Ellenburg, NY on March 28, 1938, the son of Anian and Glorvina (Nichols) LaBombard.
Following the death of his father in 1966, Leo took over operations of the LaBombard "Valley" family farm in Ellenburg Center, which had been kept in the family for four generations. He spent his years running the farm until 1983, when he suffered a farm related accident which left him a quadriplegic.
Leo loved to joke and laugh. He enjoyed being around family & friends, and he really liked long conversations. He was interested in all events, local people and was Lord of the Manor at his annual family reunions which he held at the farm. Leo will be remembered and missed.
Leo is survived by three sisters; Marguerite Colgan of Ellenburg Center, Lucille LaClair of Brushton, and Mae LaBombard of Champlain; two sisters-in-law, Thelma LaBombard of Ellenburg Center and Audrey LaBombard of Churubusco; one aunt, Rita LaBombard of Plattsburgh; and several nieces and nephews.
Leo was predeceased by his parents; three brothers, Austin LaBombard, Richard LaBombard, and Leroy LaBombard; one sister, Marion Trombley; three brothers-in-law, Robert Colgan, Donald LaClair, and Horace Trombley; and one sister-in-law, Cecilia LaBombard.
Calling hours will be held on Wednesday, November 7, 2012 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 11 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. Donations in his memory may be made to the Ellenburg Center Fire Department.
