Obituary

CHAZY LAKE, NY--- Leona O. Rebideau, 95, of LaPoint Road, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh.

She was born in Chazy Lake, NY on April 2, 1918, the daughter of Elmer F. and Evelyn (Varin) DuBrey.

Leona graduated from Lyon Mountain High School.  She later married John "Pat" Rebideau on October 14, 1936 at St. Joseph's Church in Dannemora. Pat passed away on January 18, 1974.

Leona worked at Diamond International in Plattsburgh, retiring after more than 30 years of service.  She was a member of St. Bernard's Church in Lyon Mountain, the Saranac Seniors, and the Catholic Daughters.  She was also a past board member of the Lyon Mountain Senior Housing Development.

Leona spent her entire life living on Chazy Lake.  She loved the beauty and tranquility of her home and the lake. She was an avid Pinochle Card Player, enjoyed her trips for ice cream to Harrigan's Ice Cream Stand, but above all else, she loved all the time spent with her family.  Her life revolved around her children and grandchildren, a constant source of pride for "Granny", "Oney", and "Gray Goose". The family wishes to thank the staff and nurses on 5 Main at the CVPH Medical Center for the loving care they provided to Leona.  They would also like to extend a special thank you to her neighbors on Chazy Lake, who she always considered her second family, for the care, companionship, and support they gave to Leona over the past several years.

Survivors include three children, Kathleen King of Chazy Lake, Sherman Rebideau and his wife Tina of West Plattsburgh, and Jon Rebideau and his wife Sue of Ellenburg Depot;  three siblings, Loretta Boyd of Saranac, Vina Gonzales of Merrill and William "Bill" DuBrey of Morrisonville; two sisters-in-law, Patricia DuBrey and Audrey DuBrey;  her grandchildren, Jeff King and his companion Cheryl Saltmarsh, Susan Glaude and her companion Dan Gagne, Carol and Dale Mason, Sharon and Howard Relation, Scott King, Keith and Maryanne Rebideau, Lance and Sue Rebideau, Justin Rebideau, Kyle Rebideau, Rian Rebideau, Tom and Kara Coplen, Tammy Harrigan, Tim and Kim Coplen, and Tracy Gryger;  and numerous great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Leona was predeceased by her husband Pat;  a daughter, Carol Coplen;  her parents;  four brothers, Elmer, Gordon, Sherman, and Melvin DuBrey;  and one sister, Lucy LaGoy.

Calling hours will be held on Friday, February 14, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home, 5614 Route 11, Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. on Saturday at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Alexander's Cemetery in Morrisonville.
