Obituary

PLATTSBURGH, NY---Loretta Manor Cook, 100, formerly of Ellenburg, passed away on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at the UVHC/CVPH Skilled Nursing Facility. She was born June 16, 1915 in Champlain, NY, the daughter of Eli and Mary (Rogers) St. Andrew. The family moved to East Rochester, NY when she was twelve. On December 26, 1932, she married Raymond L. Manor at St. Jerome's Church in East Rochester. They were happily married until his death on July 3, 1965. They operated Ray's Service Station in Ellenburg Depot for many years. She later worked as bookkeeper for McGregor's Hardware until she and Ray purchased and operated the Ellenburg Inn Restaurant. Soon after Ray's death she sold the restaurant and went to work at the State Hospital in Wingdale.
She married Don Cook on January 28, 1973 in Dover Plains, NY. He predeceased her in June of 1987.
She was also predeceased by her parents; brothers, William, Roy, and Carl; sisters, Yvonne and Rita; and a sister-in-law, Mildred Manor Reynolds.
Loretta was a devout Catholic who had a great devotion to the Chaplet of Devine Mercy and the Rosary. She was a communicant of St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg and a member of the Catholic Daughters and the Altar and Rosary Society.
One of her greatest enjoyments was cooking and sharing it with others. She also loved to spend time with family, sew, crochet, read and listen to music.
Survivors include a niece and her husband, Barb and Jim Bilow, who she thought of as her children. She is also survived by her step-children, Don Cook, Neil Cook and his wife Cheri, Mark Cook and his wife Sue, Debbie Davies and her husband Ken and Judy Hart and her husband Arthur. Several nieces and nephews also survive her.
Calling hours will be held on Saturday, July 18, 2015 from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 p.m. in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery. The family wishes to invite everyone back to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Station for a reception following the burial.
