Obituary

Chazy Lake - Lyman "Gil" Miller, 93 of the Dubrey Road, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, in an ATV accident.

He was born in Altona on July 31, 1931, the son of Emmett and Emma (Cayea) Miller.  He married Shirley Smith on July 4th, 1955, at St Edmund's Catholic Church in Ellenburg.

He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving with the 45th Infantry Division in Korea, and honorably discharged in 1954. After discharge, he worked many construction jobs before being hired at the Town of Dannemora Highway Department. Gil was later hired as a carpenter at CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, retiring after 20 years in 1990.

He was a 4th Degree Knight of Columbus, lifetime member of VFW Post 8723 in Ellenburg, member of Post 1619 American Legion, several Korean Veterans associations, and a member of the St Peter's Swamp Mavericks Hunting Camp in Standish.

He enjoyed spending time with his family, going to the casino with his wife, riding ATVs with his son, and visiting with friends, both here and in their winter residence in Ocala, FL.

Survivors include his wife Shirley Miller of Chazy Lake, daughter Crystal (Wayne) Litzau of Odessa, FL, son Lynn (Michelle) Miller of Milton, VT, and daughter Deborah (Ricky) Coryer of Chazy Lake, grandchildren Bridget (Jason) Benware, Jessica Healey, Kristie (Matt) Chase, Lori (Brett Fisher) Healey, and Kryn (Nate) Burnside; great-grandchildren Emmett Benware, Colten Burnside, Hughes and Miles Chase, sister-in-law Jean Smith, and many nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his parents, parents-in-law Herbert and Hattie Smith, his son, Steve Miller, brothers Leonard, Lawrence, Leo, and Gaylord, sisters Loretta, Velma, Eva, Ida, Irene, and Hortense, brother-in-law Robert Smith, and son-in-law John Healey.

Calling hours will be held 4-7 pm Sept 30th at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 noon, October 1st at St. Edmund's Church. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
