Obituary

ELLENBURG DEPOT – Marguerite Colgan, 92, of Breezy Acres, peacefully passed away, surrounded by her loving family on January 21, 2025 just 2 weeks shy of her 93rd birthday.
She was born on February 5, 1932, daughter of Anian and Glorivina (Nichols) LaBombard.
Marguerite graduated from Ellenburg Central School and went on to marry the love of her life, Robert "Bob" Colgan on March 26, 1951 at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Marguerite was a homemaker, dedicating her time to her husband and children. Depending on the season, you would find her baking her delicious donuts, bread, pies and cookies, working in the hay field, or quilting in her living room.
She also dedicated her life to helping others in any way that she could. Whether helping to babysit, or packaging food for the home bound, Marguerite was always willing to serve her community.
She was also a woman of great faith and was an active member of St. Edmund's Church. Marguerite served as a Eucharist Minister for many years, and was also a member of the Catholic Daughters, and an honorary member of the Altar and Rosary Society.
Besides the time that she loved spending with her family, Marguerite enjoyed reading, sewing, baking, word searches, and solving crossword puzzles.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Barbara Roberts and her husband Ricky, Mark Colgan and his wife Marion, Audrey Bashaw and her husband Paul, and Paul Colgan and his wife Jody; grandchildren, Michelle Hamel (Neil), Jennifer Plumadore (Jason), Daniel Colgan (Nick), Elizabeth Wainwright (Mark), Rebecca Colgan, Sarah Colgan, and Robert Bashaw;  great-grandchildren, Austin Plumadore, Gabe Plumadore, Nathan Hamel, Nolan Hamel, and Colton Wainwright, sisters-in-law, Audrey and Thelma LaBombard; and many nieces and nephews.
Marguerite was predeceased by her husband, Bob; her son, Fr. Richard Colgan; and siblings, Austin, Leroy, Richard, and Leo LaBombard, Marion Trombley, Lucille LaClair, Mae LaBombard and a great-grandaughter, Anna Hamel.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, January 26th from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church.
