Obituary

ROUSES POINT, NY - Marshall Blow passed away at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh, NY on Tuesday, November 13, 2018.  He was born on July 14, 1921 to James J. Blow and Emma Rabideau Blow in Ellenburg, NY.  Following graduation from Ellenburg High School in June 1939, he enlisted in the Army on January 29, 1940.  After basic training he transferred to the Army Air Force before the Air Force became a military service of its own.  He was transferred to an Air Force base outside of London before D-Day where he remained for the rest of his time in the service.  He was also married in England to Silvia Jean Grantham (first wife) who came to the United States as a war-bride. Together they had two children. Her family later immigrated to the states following the war.  He was a member of the Northern Lights VFW Post 8793 in Ellenburg.
The G.I. Bill allowed Marshall to attend and graduate from Clarkson College in Potsdam with a B.S. Degree in Business. As a college student Marshall worked for the U.S. Customs in various locations. Following college Marshall became a full time U.S. Customs agent stationed initially in the Buffalo area, but he transferred to Champlain, NY, to focus on commercial border transportation and eventually retired from that career.
Marshall loved hunting, golf and fly fishing became his passion.  He was a proud member of a hunting camp which he inherited when his brother, Donald, passed away. Marshall married his second wife, Sonya Warner on May 29, 1974 and they resided in Rouses Point.  Sonya passed away on February 15, 2017.  Marshall was pleased that he lived to be 97 years old, which is the same age his sister, Dagma Brooks, and his mother were when they passed away.  His parents, brother, Donald and sister-in-law, Helen predeceased him.
Marshall is survived by his daughter, Sheree Taylor of Florida, his son, Jerry Blow and grandson, Jason Blow, both of California, his nephew, Donald Brooks (Mary Anne) of Saratoga Springs, NY, close friends, Lori Hobbs and Joan and Robbie Hobbs.  Special thanks to Dr. Nicole and staff at Champlain Family Health, and his care teams at Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital and Meadowbrook Healthcare.
A spring burial service will be at the convenience of the family.
