Milton "Josh" Bulriss' Obituary
ELLENBURG DEPOT, NY---Milton "Josh" Bulriss, 81, of Route 11, passed away on Monday, January 11, 2016 at the Meadowbrook Healthcare Facility. He was born in Ellenburg Depot, NY on May 31, 1934, the son of Eugene and Carrie (Menard) Bulriss.
Josh graduated from Ellenburg Central School in 1954. He then enlisted in the United States Army where he served our country from 1954 to 1956.
He married Beverly "Betty" Miller on August 20, 1960 in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Josh worked as a correctional officer and retired from the Altona Correctional Facility after 37 years of service. Josh was a 3rd and 4th Degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus, where he served as a former Grand Knight, and he was also a member of the VFW Post 8793 in Ellenburg.
Survivors include his loving wife of 55 years, Betty Bulriss of Ellenburg Depot, NY; one son, Michael Bulriss of Charleston, WV; one brother, Ivan Bulriss and his wife Marge of Rochester, NY; two sisters, June Coryea of Ellenburg and Yvonne Bulriss of Plattsburgh; three grandchildren, Mary Beth Bulriss, Jacob Bulriss, and Christian Bulriss; and several nieces and nephews.
Josh was predeceased by eight siblings, Annette Avery, Rita Murphy, Regina Bergevin, Roger Bulriss, Leon Bulriss, Arnold Bulriss, Everett Bulriss, and Hector Bulriss.
There will be no public calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, January 13, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. in St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Burial will take place in the spring in St. Edmund's Cemetery.
Donations in his memory may be made to St. Edmund's Church or to the Ellenburg Depot Fire Department.
