Obituary

ELLENBURG CENTER – Patricia "Pat" Rodriguez, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 14, 2026. Born in Utica, NY, on September 3, 1946, to the late John Eldon LaClair and Hazel Violet Boyea, Pat lived a life defined by her faith, her community, and an unwavering dedication to her family.

On October 3, 1964, Pat married the love of her life, Charles "Charlie" Rodriguez, at St. Edmund’s Church. Together, they shared a beautiful journey of 61 years, building a foundation of love and loyalty that served as an inspiration to all who knew them.

Pat was a woman of quiet strength and determination. One of her proudest personal achievements was earning her GED, a testament to her lifelong belief in self-improvement and perseverance. She was a familiar and friendly face within the Northern Adirondack Central School District (NACS), where she eventually retired as a bus driver. She truly loved her time behind the wheel, ensuring the safety of countless children and starting each school day with a sense of purpose.

Rarely one to sit still, Pat was a woman of many passions. She was a fixture at local bowling alleys, competing in several Women’s and COED leagues and sharing her love for the sport by coaching the Youth Bowling League. Though she had plenty of awards to show for it, she truly played for the friendships and the fun of the competition. Whether she was heading out on casino adventures, enjoying a game of Bingo, playing softball and horseshoes, or teaching church school, Pat brought energy and a bright smile to everything she did.

Her faith was the cornerstone of her life. As a devoted member of the Catholic Daughters, she found deep peace and fulfillment attending Mass and serving her church community for many years.

Pat’s legacy lives on through her devoted husband, Charlie; her children, Charles Rodriguez Jr. and Travis (Dee) Rodriguez of Ellenburg Center, and Missie Rodriguez (Josh Loupis) of Canaan, NH; and her sister, Sandra King. She was a wonderful grandmother to Katherin Patricia (Todd Heywood) Rodriguez, CJ Rodriguez, Keith Rodriguez, Alyssa (Kevin Quinde) Rodriguez, and Cardigan Loupis, and a proud great-grandmother of three. She also leaves behind her best friend and "sister by heart," Sheila Decoste, and Sheila’s daughter, Phoebe; her brother-in-law, Jerry Curnutt; and a large, loving extended family of siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; her brothers, Jimmy, Gary, and Wayne LaClair; her sisters, Gloria Honsinger and Nancy Curnutt; and her nieces, Laurie Ann Honsinger, Kim LaClair, and Nikki Miller.

Per Pat’s wishes, there will be no calling hours.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Edmund’s Church on Monday, April 20th at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations be made by having a Mass offered in Pat’s honor at St. Edmund’s Church—a tribute she would have deeply cherished.
