DANNEMORA, NY---Robert V. "Bob" LaDuke, 73, of Hammond Street, passed away on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at his camp on Chazy Lake, surrounded by family and in the care of Hospice.
He was born in Standish, NY on September 6, 1940, the son of Victor and Blanche (Romeo) LaDuke. He graduated from Lyon Mountain High School in 1958.
Robert married the former Carole Blaise on August 25, 1962 at St. John the Baptist Church in Keeseville, NY.
He worked for 37 ½ years as a CSEA employee and retired in 1996 from Clinton Correctional Facility in Dannemora.
Robert enjoyed bowling and was most recently a member of the Dannemora Fun and Golf League. He was also a member of the Dannemora Knights of Columbus. Robert was an avid NASCAR fan, and also enjoyed many of the local racing circuits, including getting his season pass for Airborne Raceway. He always looked forward to attending his grandchildrens' sporting events and was also a devoted fan to the New York Yankees, the Boston Celtics, and Duke University Basketball. Robert had a great love for his family and enjoyed the time spent together especially at their camp on Chazy Lake.
Survivors include his loving wife of 51 years, Carole LaDuke of Dannemora; one son, Steven LaDuke of Peru; two daughters, Suzanne Barber and her husband Perry of Dannemora, and Stephanie Webb and her husband Chad of Peru; granddaughters, Hannah and Hallie LaDuke and grandsons, Jack and Landen Webb; two sisters, Betty Dow and her husband Ralph of Newport, NY and Carol Burnam of Plattsburgh; sister-in-law, Bonnie Hilbert and her husband David of Spring, TX; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was predeceased by his parents.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
