ELLENBURG DEPOT, NY
- Sharon R. Lafave, 72, of Route 11, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, November 30, 2016 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born on September 3, 1944 in Plattsburgh, the daughter of Wilmer and Nina (Colgan) Nephew.
Sharon married Kenneth Lafave at the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church on July 10, 1965.
Following her education, Sharon worked for many years as an administrative assistant to the principal at Northern Adirondack Central School. Sharon worked as a secretary at Northland Hides in Ellenburg and for Fleet Enterprises Advertising Company in Plattsburgh.
Sharon served as the Secretary/Treasurer to the Ellenburg Depot Fire District for over 25 years and was currently serving as the Secretary/Treasurer for the Sheldon Hill Cemetery Association in Ellenburg.
Sharon enjoyed the art of music and shared that love by teaching many students piano. She composed and performed original songs that were produced with The Heartstrings Musical Group.
She enjoyed the time she spent with her family and friends and was a generous and giving individual. Sharon loved her hometown of Ellenburg Depot and the people that lived there. She gave generously of her time to support the community. Sharon will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
Survivors include her loving husband of 51 years, Kenneth Lafave of Ellenburg Depot; her son, Kenny Lafave and his wife Dusti of Ellenburg Center; two sisters, Deanna Pratt and Colleen Bernard and her husband Patrick; brother-in-law, Ron Lafave and his companion Peg, and brother-in-law Alan Lafave; one sister-in law, Marilyn Parrott and her husband Gary; two granddaughters, Alexis and Reese Lafave; and several nieces and nephews. Sharon was predeceased by her parents and two daughters, Lisa Ann and Marni Lynn.
Calling hours will be held on Monday, December 5, 2016 from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, December 6, 2016 at 11:00 am at the Ellenburg Depot Wesleyan Church.
