MOOERS FORKS – Shirley McDonald, 86, of Route 11, passed away peacefully on July 14, 2024 at her home surrounded by those who loved her most.

Shirley was born August 12, 1937 to Edward and Sadie (Therian) Lucia.

She became a newlywed at age 21 when she married her soulmate, Loyal McDonald on October 18, 1958.  For the next 65 years, Shirley and Loyal would become the envy of every couple they encountered.

Before retiring, Shirley was an accountant at Ayerst-Wyeth for 21 years.  Along with her husband Loyal, she is survived by her sons, Randy (Staci) McDonald and Davy (Melissa) McDonald, as well as her grandchildren, Kelsey (Tyler) McDonald, Tanner (Siera) McDonald, Kabreigh McDonald, Jaden McDonald, Mally Lashway, Dutton Lashway, Lacie Ethier, Carter Ethier and Savannah Ethier.

Shirley was made to be a mother, and if there was a baby nearby, you would be sure to find her loving on it.  She was an avid gardner and loved going to dances with her husband and large group of friends.

Shirley was a devout catholic and rarely missed mass.  Her laugh, wisdom and knowledge will be missed forever.

The family would like to specifically thank Joyce Boire for being the greatest friend to Shirley, as well as Madison Leclair, Tina Vincent and Rhonda Babbie for helping care for Shirley and Loyal and allowing them to stay in their home together.

A celebration of her life will be held on Thursday, July 18th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg, followed by a funeral service at 5:00 p.m.

Immediately following the service, the family has arranged for a meal at St. Ann's Church Hall in Mooers Forks.
