Obituary

PLATTSBURGH--- Wayne Cashman, 63, of Maryland Road, Plattsburgh and formerly of Chateaugay Lake, Ellenburg, passed away on Monday, February 10, 2014.

He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on June 24, 1950, the son of Vernon and Melba (Coolidge) Cashman.  During his early years, Wayne owned and operated Cashman Construction with his father.  He then entered the NYS Department of Corrections and retired from Clinton Correctional Facility after 32 years of service.  Wayne served as Town Assessor for the Town of Malone and for the Town of Ellenburg.  He was co-founder of Windy Acres and Breezy Acres Senior Housing Development in Ellenburg and also served as the director of the facility for several years.  Wayne was also currently serving on the Board of the Lake Country Village Homeowners Association  He enjoyed many things in life, including Classic Cars, his fish tanks, and tending to his flower gardens.  Above all else, his granddaughters were his life.  He enjoyed every moment spent with them and would do anything for them.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Sara and Chris Brooks of Ellenburg;  two granddaughters, Emily Cashman Brooks and Abigail Cashman Brooks;  his mother, Melba Cashman of Ellenburg;  one brother and sister-in-law, Craig and Martha Cashman;  one sister and brother-in-law, Sheila and Tony Deyo;  and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements will be private and held at the convenience of the family.
