ELLENBURG DEPOT, NY---Yvonne LaBarge, 75, of Forest Road, entered into her heavenly reward, which she so deserved, on Thursday, August 14, 2014 surrounded by the love of her family under the care of Hospice of the North Country.
She was born in Ellenburg, NY on August 30, 1938, the tenth of thirteen children of William and Roxie (Sharrow) Malark.
She graduated from Ellenburg Central School and received her registered nursing degree from the Champlain Valley School of Nursing. On September 19, 1959, she married the love of her life, Ronnie LaBarge, at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg. Yvonne worked as a nurse at Champlain Valley Hospital before leaving nursing to work in her husband's family business, LaBarge's Western Auto Store, and raising her daughter, Roxanne. She retired in 1999.
Yvonne was a woman of great intelligence, wit, and style. She enjoyed reading, music, and cooking. Yvonne hosted numerous family gatherings including fifty Thanksgiving Dinners. She and her husband spent many summer Saturday nights at Airborne Speedway, the site of their first date in 1955. Yvonne treasured the company of family and friends and was a woman of great faith with a special devotion to the Holy Mother, Mary.
She is survived by her loving husband of 54 years, Ronnie LaBarge of Ellenburg Depot; her beloved daughter, Roxanne LaBarge of Plattsburgh; her devoted sister, Mary LaBarge and her husband Harold "Pete" of Ellenburg Depot; sisters Jeneane Schadt of Lancaster, NY and Bernadette Mercer and her husband Mark of Plattsburgh; brother, Vernon Malark and his wife Beverly of Cadyville; sisters-in-law, Lola Bedard of Plattsburgh and Linda LaBarge and her husband Walter Fraiser of Balston Spa, NY; and several nieces and nephews.
Yvonne was predeceased by brothers, Russell Malark and his wife Marie, Gerald Malark and his wife Delores, Anthony Malark and his wife Rose, and Richard Malark; sisters, Bertha LeClair and her husband Herbert, Joanne Malark, Veronica Patnode and her husband Francis, and Theresa Carter; and brothers-in-law, Michael Schadt and Gerald Bedard.
Yvonne's family would like to thank her devoted caretakers and Hospice of the North Country for their help and support.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, August 17, 2014 from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Rabideau Funeral Home in Ellenburg. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11 a.m. at St. Edmund's Church in Ellenburg.
Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
